I play virtually all of my listings, but of course time does not allow me to
listen to everything all the way through. I generally play the first few minutes of each
side and any sections which display visible defects. I spot check everything else.
Still, mistakes will occasionally be made. Please forgive me. ALL RECORDS
ARE GUARANTEED to be in the condition stated. If you are not satisfied I will
gladly give you a credit or refund including your shipping cost to return the item.
EACH ALBUM IS GRADED TWICE: FIRST THE COVER, THEN THE VINYL.
| sealed | The original shrink wrap is unopened. |
| new | The album is unplayed but not shrink-wrapped. Older records I sometimes call “unplayed”. I usually listen to at least a bit of these to verify their condition. |
| m-: | (mint minus): Nearly flawless. |
| ex: | (excellent): The cover exhibits the first signs of wear. The vinyl may have a few isolated light ticks or a bit of surface noise. ex+ and ex- are slightly better or worse than ex. |
| vg+: | (very good plus): The cover shows some wear. The record may have a few light scratches and/or surface noise but is mostly in very good condition. |
| vg: | (very good): The cover may have some combination of scuffing, bent corners, edge or ring-wear, writing, or a seam- splits. The record has been played frequently. There will be surface noise and/or scratches. But there is still life left in the record. |
| vg- | (very good minus): The cover shows significant wear but is intact. The vinyl is scratched or noisy. There may be a skip but to avoid a "g" rating the rest of the record should be vg+ or better. |
| g | (good): A misnomer but a standard term. Poor, may skip. g+: Fair, may skip. |
The following refer to manufacturer’s cuts in the record jacket (usually indicating deleted titles): cc- cut corner; coh- cut-out (drill) hole; cos- cut-out slit. Other abbreviations include: u/p- unplayed; gtfld- gatefold record jacket; shrink- shrinkwrap ("in shrink" means the shrinkwrap is still on but has been opened); woc- writing on cover; noc- name on cover; ioc- initials; toc- tape; wobc- writing on back cover; woil- writing on inner label; ss- seam split. Folkways Syndrome- Vinyl deterioration, usually the result of an album's old age. It usually results in some degree of surface noise. Surface Noise: Noise unrelated to specific scratches in the vinyl. It is particularly common to pressings on the Folkways label. All records are American pressings unless otherwise stated.
